Job Description

Hey there, optical enthusiast! 👋 Ready for an exciting opportunity?



MBRYONICS is looking for a stellar Optical Design Engineer to join our team in Galway, Ireland! 🇮🇪



What's the gig about?


We're at the cutting edge of free space optical communications, and we need your expertise to help design and industrialize our next-gen optical systems for satellite comms and precision metrology equipment. Cool, right?



What you'll be doing:



  • Getting creative with optical designs 🎨

  • Collaborating with our awesome engineering teams

  • Optimizing system performance like a boss

  • Diving deep into detailed design analysis

  • Showing off your communication skills with suppliers and customers



What we're looking for:



  • Masters or PhD in optical design (or equivalent experience)

  • At least 3 years of optical engineering experience

  • Zemax Opticstudio and Matlab/Python wizardry

  • Strong understanding of optical aberrations

  • Hands-on experience with optical system assembly and metrology



Bonus points for:



  • Stray light simulation skills

  • Optomechanical design experience

  • Freeform optics know-how

  • Space optical instrumentation background
