Technical Specialist in Immersive Audio Programming

Job Description

Hey there, audio enthusiast! 🎧



Are you ready to dive into the world of immersive audio at the UNIVERSITY OF YORK? We're looking for a tech wizard to join our AudioLab team and help create some seriously cool accessible tools for audio production. 🚀



What you'll be doing:



  • Converting audio algorithms from Matlab to C/C++ for AAX/VST plugins

  • Developing a standalone renderer

  • Collaborating with the team on spatial audio project demos

  • Chatting with stakeholders about implementation and debugging



What we're looking for:



  • BSc/BEng in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or equivalent

  • Rockstar skills in Matlab and C/C++ programming

  • Solid understanding of DSP and spatial audio

  • Familiarity with accessibility research is a plus

  • Experience in sound design for film and TV would be awesome



This is a part-time gig (18.5 hours/week) for up to 12 months. You'll be working on the Enhancing Audio Description project, making audio more accessible for everyone.
