About Me
Bitro GmbH explains that its Hall-effect alternatives determine stick position using a chip and magnet instead of the friction-based contact method used by conventional potentiometers.
This difference is the main reason Hall-effect technology is considered a longer-term approach to stick-drift repair.
What Is a Hall-Effect Stick?
A Hall-effect analog stick uses a magnetic field to detect the position of the joystick.
When the player moves the stick, a magnet changes position relative to a sensor. The controller converts that change into directional input.
The sensing process does not depend on the same physical contact points found in conventional potentiometers. This reduces the mechanical wear associated with friction inside the position-detection system.
